This week, the requirement was to convert the animation graphic curves to spline curves, and I tweaked some of George’s suggestions. I also added keyframes to add more detail to the animation.
This week is rendering week, after a month-long effort . Our film is finally finished. The results are still very good.
Summary
This time it was a collaboration with a good friend who we work with regularly. Because of the short time frame, we couldn’t add much to the plot or the content 🙂 At the beginning of the re-design, we were subtracting from the film. We wanted to have enough time to finish it, but we succeeded. It was a new experience for me and it was the first time I had done the whole process of designing a character from design to texture mapping. I had a lot of freedom at the beginning of the project because of the trust of my team members. There are still some lessons to be learnt and I hope to be able to pace myself better for the next project.
Following George’s advice from last week, I have reoriented the character left and right. Also adjusted some facial expressions to avoid too much push.
Most of my work is almost done and this week has been about handing over to my team members. I have also been working on resolving any problems that have arisen during the production.
This week Yang told me that when he was working on the animation, he noticed that a few parts of the girl’s hair were going through the mould. I think this is the problem I had with the hair styling last week. I made the adjustments and gave him feedback.


The girl’s decals were completed this week. Also, after talking to the group, the hair was adjusted to make it more neat. Also handed over to the rest of the group.



This week the female character’s UV was adjusted and a replacement texture for the jumper material was made via ZBrush.




Finished the mapping and textures for the male characters this week

Got the scene progress on CHEN this week and the results look great

This week I started on the girl’s model and also added a travel bag to the girl to better fit her characterisation

This week, I adjusted the camera position and did some basic animation blocking
